PERSONAL DATA

Comments

To aid spam detection, we gather the data provided in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string. The Gravatar service may be given an anonymized string created from your email address (also known as a hash) to see if you are using it. The privacy policy for the Gravatar service can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Your profile image is shown to the public in the context of your comment after it has been approved.

Media

Avoid submitting photos with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) if you’re uploading images to the website. Any location data from photographs on the website can be downloaded and extracted by website visitors.

Cookies

You can choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies if you leave a comment on our site. These are for your convenience so you don’t have to enter your information again when you post another comment. This batch of cookies will last for a year. We will set a temporary cookie if you visit our login page to see if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie includes no personal information and is deleted when your browser is closed. We’ll set up many cookies when you log in to save your login information and screen display preferences. Cookies for login and screen options last for two days and a year, respectively. Your login will be saved for two weeks if you choose “Remember Me.” The login cookies will be deleted if you log out of your account. An additional cookie will be saved in your browser whenever you update or publish an article. This cookie contains no personal information and only shows the post ID of the article you just updated. It has a one-day expiration date.

CONTENT FROM OTHER WEBSITES

This site’s articles may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites functions just as if the visitor had visited the other website. These websites may collect information about you, use cookies, embed extra third-party tracking, and track your interactions with embedded content, including tracking your interactions with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

WE RETAIN YOUR DATA

If you post a comment, both the comment and the metadata associated with it are saved eternally. This is so that any subsequent comments will be recognized and approved automatically rather than being held in a moderation queue. We also store the personal information that users supply in their user profiles when they register on our website. At any moment, any user can see, modify, or remove their personal information (except they cannot change their username). The information can also be viewed and edited by website administrators.

YOUR RIGHTS OVER YOUR DATA

You can obtain an exported file of the personal data we possess about you, including any data you have provided to us if you have an account on this site or have posted comments on it. You can also ask us to delete any personal information we have about you. This excludes any information that we are required to store for administrative, legal, or security reasons.
